New Programs!!

We at NKYK9 are dedicated to your success! One of our primary goals in training is to make your dog a well-behaved member of the family, one you can take anywhere with you that dogs are permitted. As we always say, practice, practice and more practice makes permanent. We’re very pleased to announce we’ll be offering two new programs to our clients who have already completed basic levels of training and we hope you’ll join us!  These programs will offer you the ability to continue building on your dog’s understanding of their existing skills with additional distractions of new locations, people and dogs.

On the Go!

Our “NKYK9 On the Go!” program is to assist you in practicing good behaviors so they become permanent. We will offer “field trips” of sorts, on at least a monthly basis and sometimes more frequently. As a group, we’ll do varying things from casual neighborhood walks, a hike in the park, visiting an ice cream establishment and anywhere a group of dog owners with their dogs are welcome. This allows us to practice your dog’s training in public settings, with a trainer present to assist you in your success so you feel more confident doing these types of activities on your own. This also gives you an opportunity to meet other people who enjoy taking their dog places and share experiences.

Polishing Class

This group class will be an hour long and offered 2-4 times per month on varying days and times (some weekdays and some weekends) so we can meet a variety of schedules. We will focus on using your dog’s basic skills and continue to build on their distance, distraction and duration capabilities through repetition and new exercises. In most cases this class will be held in a park so we have plenty of room for everyone.

Eligibility and requirements- Most areas do have a leash law so please remember to bring a collar and leash. If your dog is remote collar trained, make sure the collar and transmitter are fully charged and the collar is on your dog. These programs are open all previous and current clients with a training foundation in place. If you have 2 dogs and will be attending with both dogs, please bring a handler for each dog. Don’t forget clean-up bags and water for your dog, if you feel they may need them. Remember to dress for the weather, these are year-round programs!

Costs- December classes are FREE! We’d like to offer everyone the opportunity to try these programs out for free for the first month. We also want this to encourage you to get out with your dog during this hectic time of year. Fresh air, as well as exercise does everyone good and will help reinforce your dog’s training through the busy holidays

Beginning Jan 1, 2010, these programs will be $10 per class or you’ll be able to purchase a 6 class punch card for $60 and get a 7th class for FREE, a savings of $10! You’ll be able to RSVP to any of the classes so you can attend at your convenience, when your schedule allows.
